    A Landmark That's Gone, Livonia Gazette, November 23, 1930

    The old cobblestone blacksmith shop at Livonia Center is said to have been built in the 1830s by William Thurston. [Refer to photograph below] From left are Martin Lindsley (in buggy), who lived on the late John Spoor farm; John DeWeyel, standing by horse's head; Norman Shafer in front of door); Arthur Patchin (in doorway), lived where the Ivan Costello family resides; "Nig" Rowland in front of wheel).
